ARK CAT SANCTUARY ENCOURAGES ADOPTING A NEW BEST FRIEND DURING PETSMART CHARITIES NATIONAL ADOPTION WEEK
Adoption Events to Take Place at Local PetSmart Stores March 23 – 29
March 23, 2026 – Flagstaff, AZ– Scores of adoptable pets are longing for people to shower with love and affection. Ark Cat Sanctuary is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities® to bring adoptable pets from the shelter into PetSmart stores [Insert location/dates/times] in support of National Adoption Week, taking place March 23 – 27, 2026.

During the in-store event, staff and volunteers will be available to help potential pet parents to meet and spend time with adoptable pets including cats and kittens of various ages, personalities, and energy levels—from playful, social kittens to calm, affectionate adult cats— from Ark Cat Sanctuary.
“Partnering with PetSmart Charities allows us to connect more cats with loving homes and reach members of our community who may not otherwise visit our sanctuary,” said Susan Marue, Executive Director of Ark Cat Sanctuary. “Every adoption not only changes the life of that animal, but also allows us to continue rescuing and caring for more cats in need.”
Studies show that caring for pets is beneficial to the cognitive, physical and emotional wellness of people. When families share pet caregiving responsibilities, children learn important values such as selflessness, patience and compassion.

Meet Trip! an 8-month-old brown tabby with beautiful green eyes and an affectionate, playful personality. She is incredibly friendly, loves attention, and enjoys interactive playtime just as much as curling up for cuddles. She would do well in a variety of home environments and is especially great for someone looking for a fun, social companion. She has been spayed, is up to date on vaccinations, and is ready to find her forever home.

About Ark Cat Sanctuary
Ark Cat Sanctuary has been part of the animal welfare community in Northern Arizona for 20 years. Our mission is saving at-risk cats and kittens. We take cats and kittens from municipal shelters and the public in Flagstaff, the Navajo Nation, and Northern Arizona, provide the care they need to become healthy and adoptable, and then adopt them into permanent homes at the Flagstaff PetSmart store. Cats with behavioral or health issues who cannot be adopted out have a permanent home at the Sanctuary. The Ark facility is located on 10 acres in the Kaibab National Forest near Parks, AZ. Our Executive Director lives on the Sanctuary property and provides 24- hour care for medical intakes, small kittens, and the resident cats. The Ark Cat Sanctuary is unique in that it is the only shelter in Northern Arizona that solely accepts cats.
